Tour Plan : Best 2-Day Desert tour from Marrakech to Zagora
Day 1: Marrakech to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, then Agdz to Zagora.
- 8 HOUR DRIVE
You will be picked up from your Marrakech hotel about 7:30 a.m. for your 2-day desert tour from marrakech to zagora. Sit back and enjoy the ride as you drive across the Tizi Ntichka pass (2260 m altitude) and several adobe Berber communities. You could even observe locals tending their goats! There will be a halt in the High Atlas Mountains where you may snap photos, stretch your legs, and have a cup of coffee.
When you arrive in Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, you will have free time to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site and its famed walled settlement. This town has served as a location for a number of Biblical epics, as well as a background for commercial and modeling photo shoots. If you want to accompany the group on a guided tour, there is an additional price of €3.00 per person. Following the tour to the Kasbah, you will have an hour for lunch at your discretion. From here, we will drive via Ouarzazate and into the northeastern Anti-Atlas Mountains to the oasis of Agdz.
After a brief stop in the town center, you'll be ready to take in one magnificent view after another. Next, travel into the Draa Valley, where you'll witness fortified Kasbahs and oasis filled with hundreds of thousands of date palm trees. Draa Valley is home to Morocco's biggest palm tree farm.
You will arrive at the Zagora desert late in the afternoon to meet your camel caravan. Through the Zagora Desert, your camel trekking journey will start. First, you'll enjoy an hour-long sunset camel ride. Zagora has very few sand dunes. Then, right before darkness falls, you'll drive your camels to our Berber desert tent in the middle of nowhere.
You are in for a treat tonight! A wonderful Moroccan meal will be provided in your Bedouin camp, followed by a spectacular drum performance close to the bonfire. Your desert nomad hosts will perform and sing traditional folkloric music till midnight. Feel free to explore the stars and constellations, or just relax in the desert beneath the magnificent night sky.
Day 2: Zagora to Ouarzazate, then to Marrakech.
- 8 HOUR DRIVE
Your camp hosts will wake you up early in the morning to see the sunrise. After breakfast, you will ride your camels back to the main road to meet your car and driver. You will then travel to Ouarzazate, where we will have lunch at a small cafe and explore Taourirt Kasbah.
Early in the afternoon, you'll travel back to Marrakech across the High Atlas mountains. Your 2-day desert tour from marrakech to zagora will conclude at 19:00 in the summer and 20:00 in the winter.
